Carol and Dennis Update

After much soul searching, as to whether or not we should plan on moving to Maine to be closer to our daughter, or move back to Rhode Island to be close to our son and daughter in law and our new granddaughter, we decided to build a smaller house in Vermont right here in Jerusalem, a little village we have grown to love. In the winter of 2005, we started planning, and the house was built, and the barn was moved up the hill behind the Bed and Breakfast. We choose this spot because of it's spectacular view. Unfortunately, the view comes with a steep driveway in the winter which Dennis has become very adapt at keeping clear, and somewhat free of ice. We moved into the new house for Christmas of 2006.
This past November 2007, Carol had a total hip replacement. A much needed surgery which was the result of a horse accident almost nine years go, and she is looking forward to a summer full of biking, hiking, gardening and maybe even riding a horse again - all the while trying to balance being a Bed and Breakfast hostess, cook, singing with the Middlebury College Community Choir, knitting, spinning wool, weaving and painting landscapes.
Dennis' big passion is still his horses, and in addition to hiking biking, and being a Bed and Breakfast host, he finds time for the horses, the chickens and the pooches, as well as being on the school board for the local elementary school.

Kasey update

Kasey is doing extremely well, but as it turns out, I have always wanted a Standard Poodle as we had one when we lived in Rhode Island, and the opportunity came up when one of our neighbors new of one who was looking for a home. That was all I needed, so one look, and now Kasey has a brother, Angus who is 4 years old. Yes there was a little adjustment initially, but they both get along great now.

As Angus is what you may call hyper, Kasey does not share breakfast with the guests any more, as Angus can get somewhat uncontrollable when he sees birds at the feeder outside the dining room door.

They both get to see the guests during one of my three walks a day, which seems to be needed to calm down Angus.

Our Horse update

Realizing many of our guests enjoy our horses, we feel we should provide an update for you. 2007 was a bad as well as good year for our horses. On the sad side, we lost Big John our Shire Draft Horse. He got sick on Memorial Day week end and by the next morning we lost him. Much to Carol's dismay, I couldn't leave the stall empty, so by the end of summer, we got Billie a Percheron Draft. She definitely is one of the quietest horses we have ever owned. She's also extremely friendly. In case you're wondering, she was named for Billie Holiday, the famous jazz singer.

Many of our guests have ask us what is happening at the B&B, and we thought the best way to accomplish this is to start our own Blog.

Believe us when we say, the Blog is extremely new to us even though you may be familiar with the concept, we definitely are not, so please bear with us.
