Carol and Dennis Update

After much soul searching, as to whether or not we should plan on moving to Maine to be closer to our daughter, or move back to Rhode Island to be close to our son and daughter in law and our new granddaughter, we decided to build a smaller house in Vermont right here in Jerusalem, a little village we have grown to love. In the winter of 2005, we started planning, and the house was built, and the barn was moved up the hill behind the Bed and Breakfast. We choose this spot because of it's spectacular view. Unfortunately, the view comes with a steep driveway in the winter which Dennis has become very adapt at keeping clear, and somewhat free of ice. We moved into the new house for Christmas of 2006.
This past November 2007, Carol had a total hip replacement. A much needed surgery which was the result of a horse accident almost nine years go, and she is looking forward to a summer full of biking, hiking, gardening and maybe even riding a horse again - all the while trying to balance being a Bed and Breakfast hostess, cook, singing with the Middlebury College Community Choir, knitting, spinning wool, weaving and painting landscapes.
Dennis' big passion is still his horses, and in addition to hiking biking, and being a Bed and Breakfast host, he finds time for the horses, the chickens and the pooches, as well as being on the school board for the local elementary school.

Hi Carol & Dennis!
It is pleasure to receive a notice from you about Russel Young B&B. My husband, Eugene, and I stayed at your old house in May 2005 for only 1 night. Yes, the view was spectacular, there were a lot of birds in the backyard, friendly dogs, beautiful horses, great walks, eneermous mail box, but what exceptional about your B&B are wonderful host and hostess. You have unique skills to make people feel like friends at your house, not strangers or just customers. Culinary masterpieces from Carol, map and guidance from Dennis on our trip, when he drove with us to the beginning of the trail. Thank you. When we think about our 5 days hiking trip in Vermont, we remember you and your house, and beauty of Vermont.
Wishing you the best in life and business, happy that Carol will be able to bike and ride horses again, and looking forward to see your new house if you let us in whenever we put Vermont into our vacation plans again.
Do you have that map with flags where your customers came from?
Our flags were Chicago/Moscow-Kiev.
We are that funny looking couple from Chicago with tall husband originally from Moscow and short wife originally from Kiev who stayed at your house on May 16 or 17 of 2005 (apparently in the old house).
Best Wishes,
Lana & Eugene

Hi Lana and Eugene,

It's wonderful to hear from you, and glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

As far as the map upstairs with the pins to show where many of our guests came from, yes we still have it, and try to have our guests put a pin in in where they are from. Sometimes we get busy and forget to mention it, but we do try.

Hopefully you'll include Vermont in your vacation plans as we'd love to see you again. Happy to say Vermont does not change that much and as a result it keeps it's beauty.

Thanks for getting back to us.
